Valentine’s Day Treats

With Valentine’s Day just two days away, I got in the kitchen again this week and made some delicious V-Day treats! These are perfect to make for anything from your kid’s class party to just a cozy night in for you and your significant other.

I started off with some delicious cookies! These were a hit with everyone and just thinking about them is making me want some more!

Based on “Chocolate Heart Peanut Butter Cookies” from: Pinterest

Preparation time: 10-15 minutes

Cooking time: 12 minutes

Makes: 18 cookies

You will need:

1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon water

1 egg

2 tablespoons sugar

18 Dove milk chocolate hearts

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a medium bowl, stir the cookie mix, vegetable oil, water, and egg until the dough forms.

Put the sugar in a separate, small bowl.

Shape dough into 18 balls (I used a watermelon scoop) and then roll them in the sugar.

Place cookie dough on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown.

Immediately press Dove hearts into the top of each cookie.

Let cool on cookie sheet for about 20 minutes and enjoy!!!

The next thing I decided to make was a yummy drink. I thought this was delicious and I feel like it is perfect for a cozy night in!

Based on “Frozen Strawberry Lemonade” from: Pinterest

Total time: 10 minutes

Makes: 2 drinks

You will need:

2/3 cup fresh strawberries (hulled)

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (My sister and I thought it could use a little more lemon, so if I could do it differently, I would squeeze in a whole lemon)

½ cup of water

2 tablespoons granulated sugar (plus a little extra for rimming glasses)

1 ½ cup crushed ice

Red food coloring

Put some sugar in a small bowl and add a drop of red food coloring.

Use a spoon and gently mix the sugar and food coloring.

Add more food coloring as needed to get your desired color.

Run the cut side of a lemon wedge around the rim of each glass.

Dip the rim of each glass in the bowl of pink sugar and set aside.

Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until the desired consistency is reached.

Divide the strawberry lemonade between the two glasses and enjoy!

Last but certainly not least, I made a classic Valentine’s Day treat but with a little twist. These were amazing and I’m already waiting for an excuse to make some more!!

Based on “Double-Dipped Strawberries” from: OREO Sweet Treats

Total time: 15-20 minutes

Makes: 20 strawberries

You will need:

20 fresh strawberries (washed and well dried)

8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate (melted)

10 OREO cookies (coarsely crushed)

Wax paper

Once your strawberries are washed and dried well, your chocolate is melted, and your OREO cookies are crushed, sit out a sheet of wax paper.

Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate and then roll in the OREO crumbs.

Place each strawberry on the wax paper and let stand until the chocolate is firm.

I highly recommend trying all of these delicious recipes; whether for Valentine’s Day or any day! Everyone loved them and I’d love to know what you guys think!

xoxo, sav
