Under the Weather

It’s that time of year in South Carolina where the weather is constantly changing back and forth between hot and cold. This is usually the time when people start getting sick; myself included. This past week, I’ve been feeling pretty groggy so I figured posting about what I do to help me feel better would be perfect!

For starters, when I have really bad headaches, I love to get a cold washrag and lay it either over my eyes or over my forehead, depending on where the pain is coming from. In my opinion, the headaches that come from the strain on your eyes are the WORST.

If it gets bad enough to where I need to take some medicine, I will take either Motrin, Advil, or Tylenol. I don’t really have a preferred pain medicine like many people do, so I’ll just take whatever we have at the house.

If I’m having one of those days where my nose is really stopped up, I love taking a hot shower. It really helps open up your sinuses, plus feeling clean is always a good thing!

My go-to “sick meal” is either vegetable or tomato soup with a grilled cheese. It’s just so warming and it tastes amazing which automatically makes you feel better. I am very picky so the vegetable soup has to be my Aunt Susan’s special recipe. It’s pretty much the only vegetable soup I’ll eat! For the tomato soup, I just use Campbell’s and I will normally make my own grilled cheese. I will say though, if you want to have the best grilled cheese ever, go to Lizard’s Thicket!

The number one thing that I like to do whenever I’m feeling under the weather is take a hot bubble bath. My go-to sick bubble bath is the Stress Relief kind from Bath & Body Works. I love the scent so much and it is for stress relief so it really helps calm your senses. I like to add in a couple drops of the Defend Essential Oil from It Works, which has me feeling better in no time!

I really hope some of these little at home remedies help you during this sick season. Let me know if you try any of these and tell me what you think about them!

xoxo, sav
